Our Review:

Almost all of the Blaze Prelude is constructed with 304-grade stainless steel materials. There are only a couple of areas, like the innermost panel of the lid that is double-walled, the rack used for warming, the internal firebox, and the drip pan, that are all instead constructed with stainless steel that is 443-grade. All of these components are made this way because this grade of stainless steel has a greater amount of titanium than other grades. This leaves these regions more protected from becoming damaged with consistent use and exposure to higher temperatures.

When looking at the cooking rods on the Blaze Prelude, it is easy to see how broad and sturdy they are at 8mm of stainless steel. These are just the perfect width for absorbing and retaining any heat. Of course, this leads to the idyllic searing marks that many grill enthusiasts look to achieve when grillin’ at higher temperatures.

Besides the cooking rods, the burners are also an area of this particular gas grill that we feel should be focused more on. The 16-gauge burners are also made from 304-grade stainless steel materials. The commercial quality and tubular design of these burners are also a newer composition from Blaze that includes perforated flame tamers. These flame tamers meticulously protect the burners from any drips and instantly vaporize them upon contact. Flame tamers also help eliminate flame flare-ups and break down any grease before it can cause you any potential problems.

If you were to set all of the burners on high for at least 20 minutes, the temperature would reach up to 670 degrees Fahrenheit. These hotter temperatures allow for that incredible sear that everyone looks for to happen, even on steaks that are very thick. While if you set all of the burners on low for at least 20 minutes, the temperature would reach about 350 degrees Fahrenheit. A lower temperature like this is perfect for when you might want to roast or bake some food.

Between each burner there sits a divider, also made out of the 304-grade stainless steel, and stops the movement of heat from one side of the grill to the other. If you are someone that likes to grill multiple types of food at once that may need to be cooked at different temperatures, these dividers make that style of outdoor cooking all the easier. You will no longer have to wait for your steaks to finish as your sides wait on plates, getting colder and colder. Enjoy your food all at once and at a nice, warm temperature!

The Blaze brand did not just stop at incredible cooking rods, burners, and dividers with their Prelude LBM gas grill, they also included some patented, attention-grabbing components in the model too. The ignition of the grill is taken care of by their patented Push & Turn Flame-Thrower with Backup Flashtube & Crossover Channels. This style of ignition is much more reliable and straightforward than other designs. A separator with a minor gas line is attached to each igniter and when operated, distributes a small flame that ignites the grill in one swift motion. If for whatever reason an igniter malfunctions, then a crossover plate would take its place. If the whole system wasn’t operating like how it normally should, then the secondary flash tube ignition becomes active. Flash tube ignitions never fail, since gas will drip to each tube, causing them to ignite each time.

Another unique thing that Blaze will provide whenever you may want that other brands of luxury grills do not commonly allow, is having the option to purchase an aftermarket infrared accessory burner. Blaze is okay with granting you the choice to buy one since all of their burners are readily interchangeable. You can take off one of the standard burners that already come with the grill and replace it with a Plug and Play Infrared Burner. These are great burners for searing steaks, and other meats, as well as sides, like vegetables.

Blaze also offers additional accessories like a smoker box and a grill cover that includes their brand on it. If you go the route of a freestanding model, you can also use an even larger accessory, like one of their grill carts. A grill cart is a great area for storing paper towels or a propane tank too.

Of course, one of the best details when it comes to Blaze gas grills is the warranty. Blaze guarantees warranty coverage for the entire lifetime of the initial purchaser of the grill! In addition, they include a 3-year multi-user warranty coverage. This additional warranty coverage is especially excellent for those who may be looking to place their Blaze Prelude in more of a shared space with others.

The Bottom Line:

Rarely do we see gas grills constructed with as much quality and longevity in mind as the Blaze Prelude LBM. This is an investment that is sure to last a long time and can even be passed along to a new generation of grill enthusiasts when the time comes. The Blaze Prelude is a gas grill that fulfills all of the requirements and expectations one might have when it comes to outdoor cooking – and then some! From being made from the best stainless steel materials, to the cooking rods, to the burners with the patented ignition design, and everything in-between, the Blaze Prelude is a top-of-the-line gas grill that anyone would be lucky to have in their dream backyard.
